Tools required to fix blinds.
You are going to need an SDS hammer drill and impact driver and a normal chuck operated driver for these purposes of the drills we use 24 V battery operated this avoids cables and trip hazards for your safety.
Fixings Required
We’re also going to need a variety of fixings plus plasterboard fixings of your choice we use pigtails but some like the spring versions which pop out at the back of the plasterboard, also going to need some variations of screws in sizes from 30 mm up to 50 mm.You also going to need some 40 mm 3.2 self drilling screws to go straight into steel. We also need some drill-bits to cover the different variations and fixings we’re going to need 5.5 HS hammer drill-bits for red plugs some two mm drill bits in our Chuck driver.

Number one How to fit vertical blinds
The first thing we need to make sure is that we have surveyed the window correctly vertical blinds are made to measure so they fix inside the recess and the vertical louver is 89 mm so if we firstly unpack the blind there will be a number of brackets depending on the width of your vertical rail and we will space these equally along the rail and 100 mm from each end so example if your room is 2 m wide you will use three brackets one located 100 mm from one end and one located hundred millimetres from the other end and one located in the middle of the rail. So three brackets on the rail so we will start at one end and your window handles are normally sticking out by 50 mm and we need to avoid the window handles when operating the blind so with our first bracket we are going to measure 100 mm off the frame this is 50 mm to avoid a window handle and 50 mm for your vertical Louver.
1a Fixing blinds bracket method Steel and concrete plasterboard and wood
So make a pencil mark in the hole of the bracket and for each individual bracket and the locations we are now going to fix the brackets so to start with we need to determine the fixing is it timber on the edge of the recess, is it just plasterboard, is it plaster and a wooden lintel, is it plaster and a steel lintel, is plaster and a concrete lintel so to find this out we are going to take our two mm drill bit which is located in the chuck driver and where we have a pencil marked the recess slowly start to drill the pencil mark and with looking on the end of the two mm drill bit we can see if there is wood on the drillbit whether the drillbit has gone straight in the hole cavity, whether the drillbit has hit steel or concrete.
If the drill has the remnants of wood then we can use a wood screw and screw the brackets directly into the timber if it’s just plasterboard we can now use our 5.5 mm drillbit drill this hole and use a red plug and screw the bracket into the red plug with the screws provided if when we drilled the steel lintel was present we’re now going to use is self drilling screws in a impact driver and drill the screw directly into the steel to locate a bracket if when we drilled it was concrete we could now take the 5.5mm SDS drillbit and hammer drill the hole then use a red plug and screw provided to fix the bracket,we then repeat this process for the other brackets.
Vertical blinds .. continued,
Vertical blinds controls are on your vertical blind left or right make sure these go the right way and clip your rail into the brackets, repeat this fixing method 1a on the child safety clip then unpack the vertical Louver fabrics and hang these on the rail and that completes the vertical blind

Number 2 How to fix roller blinds
Now roller blinds and we are going to use the same fixing method 1a we used on the vertical blinds but we just need to locate our brackets in the correct place, so if you want to open your roller blind and get the brackets provided a standard way to fix the roller blind is to have the fabric coming off the back of the tube you will also notice there are two different brackets one has a cross cut out and one has a pinhole cut out so depending if you’ve chosen to have a left hand roller or a right-hand roller.
If you have the right-hand roller the cross cut out bracket is for your right hand control and your left pin cut out bracket is for left side dummy end which has a spring locator, firstly determine which bracket is for which side left or right then when operating the blinds we don’t want them to interfere with the window handles so take a bracket and measure 60 mm from your frame to the back of the bracket (bracket tight to side recess)take your pencil and mark where your fixings are going to be, the bracket will require two fixings per bracket and use the guide 1a above fixing method on your pencil marks fix both brackets clipping your blind up and repeat the fixing method 1a on the child safety device and this is your roller blind fitted this is also the same method for fixing cassette roller blind

Number 3 How to fix the wooden venetian blinds
Firstly unpack all the items from the wooden blinds box you will see the blind a small box of brackets and in the box will be two box brackets one left one right some plastic pelmet clips a child safety clip and a centre support bracket so to start locate the two box brackets and you’ll see inside of the bracket one is marked with an L for left one is marked with R for right we are going to use the same fixing method 1a above so take your left hand bracket and on the inside of the recess measure 60 mm back from your window frame to the back of the box bracket this will ensure missing your window handles when operating the blind then take your pencil mark the holes in the brackets and repeat the fixing method 1a above repeat this process on the right hand side and repeat this process on your centre support bracket making sure they’re all the same distance from the frame to the back of the bracket and the centre support is located mid rail then on the brackets the door always opens to the front so the blind can be slipped into the brackets door is closed and the clip locates into position locking the blind in position then use the fixing method 1a on the child safety component and this is your blind fixed clip your pelmet into position with the pelmet brackets.this method is also the same for any type of Venetian blind

Number 4 How to fit Roman Blinds.
First open the package of Roman blinds and you’ll notice you’ll have a blind and looking at the front of the blind it will either be a left hand control or right-hand control, you will also have a child safety clip and some brackets depending on the width of the blind, we also when operating the blind do not want it to interfere with window handles when in operation, firstly the bracket for the left and the bracket for the right of the blind are located 100 mm from the end of the rail both sides the remaining brackets separated at equal distances along the rail, now measure 70 mm away from the frame where the brackets are going to be located and make pencil marks for each bracket once your pencil marks are in place with the use The method above of how to fix blind brackets 1a once you have fitted your blind bracket and they’re facing the correct way clip your blind into the brackets and making sure they’re clipped in securely by the mechanism this locks in the blind, then use the bracket fix method above 1a for your child safety clip your blind is ready to be used.
Number 5 How to fit velux or Loft blinds
How to fix loft blinds so if you have a velux or key light type of loft window you can get the correct size blind for that window and located on the frame at the top are brackets to fix loft blinds ,so unpack your blind and you’ll notice some packets of screws which are for your side channels so firstly take your cassette loft blind and push this cassette onto the bracket then take your side channels one side channel is left-hand and one channel is right hand slot the left-hand side channel into the cassette and at the bottom of the side channel is a plug with a hole and with the screws provided screw the bottom plug into the timber frame. Now screw the side channel into the timber frame and repeat this for the right hand side and now your spring loaded cassette blind for your Velux Window can now be operated.

Number 6 How to fix Pleated blinds
How to fix pleated blinds
Remove all packaging from your pleated blinds and locate your brackets to be installed. We are going to fix the blind into the recess missing your 50mm window handles.
Brackets will be 100mm from each end with the remaining brackets equally spaced in between. Blind location to 70mm from your frame so pencil mark the recess for each bracket location and use fixing method 1a above to fix all your brackets into the correct fixing making it safe then clip in your blinds and repeat method 1a on your child safety clip and it’s all good to operate.
